Minutes of Meeting
Coppell Historical Society
September 10, 2005
1. Present: Lindy Thomas, Sherwood McKee, Jean Murph, Pat Lambert, Delbert Onstott, David Murph, Ruby Nell Wilson, Pete Wilson.
The minutes of the May 7, 2005 meeting were approved. The treasurer’s report was given and we have $1,191.04 in the general fund and $1,056.03 in the marker fund.
2. Windmill marker report. Jean called Brad Reed to get the final marker price but he didn’t have the figure yet. Jean passed around an illustration of the wording to be placed on the marker for approval. We had originally approved spending $250 for the plaque, but it was felt that more might be needed. Jean made a motion that we approve up to $350, Pat seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
3. Historical marker dedication.
Thursday October 13 – the official dedication – the marker will be placed in front of the wall at the gate to the park and the ceremony will be in this area.
We will have goody bags (provided by the Chamber of Commerce) for the commission members attending the luncheon and will give medallions to the speakers and special guests. Lindy will prepare the sign for the contributors’ names. We will prepare programs for both days on half sheets of paper, with a separate program for each day. Jean suggested that we have a reception for the guests after the ceremony and have cookies and drinks available. Lindy’s daughter will be asked to bake the cookies. Pete made a motion that we approve $50 for refreshments and it was seconded by Jean and approved by all attendees.
Saturday October 15 – family day dedication – this will be held in flat open area
of park. Barbara Lee has contacted the scouts for the flag ceremony. The Coppell
Community Chorale will sing the National Anthem and one other song. We will give
away lemonade but are not sure about the Pepsi. Lindy will check on this. Jean
suggested that we send out the minutes by e-
Assignments for Saturday:
Pat Lambert – bring 2 cases of water and ice chest.
Delbert Onstott – bring lemonade and ice chest.
Jean Murph – bring cups.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15, but was held open for a motion by Sherwood McKee that we send out the minutes of the meetings within one week to all members. The motion was seconded by Jean Murph and approved.
